Woodall Statement on President Obama's FY2013 Budget Proposal

Feb 13, 2012 Issues: Budget

WASHINGTON, D.C. Congressman Rob Woodall (R-GA) issued the following statement after reviewing President Obama’s FY2013 budget request:

“I had great hopes for President Obama’s budget, but having seen it I am very disappointed.  Rather than being bold about reclaiming America’s prosperity, the President simply repeated his playbook from years past: higher taxes, higher spending, and no bold proposals to rescue programs critical to our nation’s seniors.”

“The President promised better in his State of the Union, and I believed him.  Thankfully, America is not stuck without a serious budget blueprint.  My colleagues and I on the House Budget Committee are crafting a results-oriented budget that reflects America’s priorities.  Our honest and realistic budget focuses on fact-based solutions to Washington’s spending addiction.  We make hard choices that require contributions from everyone.  Now, more than ever, the American people deserve a budget that cultivates job growth in this country, provides security for our seniors, and responsibly closes Washington’s massive spending gaps.”

“We have a chance to do something meaningful for our children and grandchildren.  I ask President Obama and the Senate to stop campaigning and start working with the House toward an agreement on economic security that will endure for generations.”
