Woodall Statement on FY 2014 Budget Resolution
March 12, 2013
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Representative Rob Woodall (R-GA-07), House Budget Committee Member and Chairman of the RSC’s Budget and Spending Taskforce issued the following statement in support of The Path to Prosperity: A Responsible, Balanced Budget.
“America is the land of opportunity. Yet, opportunity is limited when we have over $16 trillion in debt hanging over our heads. It is imperative that we work to carve out the waste and excess that is holding Americans back from pursuing the dream our founders envisioned for us. The budget my colleagues and I unveiled today puts us on a sustainable fiscal course that guides America back to fiscal solvency.”
“Today’s budget accomplishes four important goals: it cuts wasteful spending, fixes our broken tax code, protects and strengthens important priorities like Medicare and national security, but most importantly, it balances—something every American family must do with its own budget. We do all of this without raising taxes, an idea that our opposition refuses to consider. In addition to these accomplishments, our plan also repeals the president’s healthcare law and returns control over health care decisions to the patients, families, and doctors. Today’s budget resolution balances over the course of ten years, a feat that requires tough decisions, but is absolutely doable. If the House and Senate Democrats do not like how this budget balances, I invite them to offer their own vision for the way they think it should.”
