Woodall Statement on House Passage of Supplemental Border Legislation
U.S. Representative Rob Woodall (GA 07) issued the following statement with regard to House-passed supplemental legislation to address the crisis on the southern border.
“The President has many tools under current law to deal with this border crisis, but continues to refuse to act, instead blaming Congress for inadequate funding,” said Woodall. “With the legislation passed by the House today, neither funding nor legislative uncertainty can be used as an excuse. The House has provided both the dollars and the statutory direction to quickly and safely reunite these children with their families in their home country.”
“The President said this was an emergency that demanded the immediate appropriation of billions of new dollars, yet Harry Reid and the Senate left town without passing any legislation at all. The House crafted a solution that addresses the border crisis even in the absence of Senate or Presidential leadership. I urge the Senate and the White House to join us to move this important solution forward.”
Woodall represents the Seventh Congressional District of Georgia, and serves as Chairman of the Republican Study Committee.
