WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representatives Rob Woodall (R-GA-07) and Jackie Speier (D-CA-14) re-introduced the “Strengthening the Department of Homeland Security Secure Mail Initiative Act (H.R. 2595)” in the U.S. House – where it was overwhelmingly approved last Congress – while U.S. Senator David Perdue (R-GA) is among those leading the charge in the Senate by introducing companion legislation. The measure would update the USCIS Secure Mail Initiative (USCIS SMI) to offer recipients – at no additional cost to the taxpayer – the option of choosing signature-required delivery upon approval and completion.

(Washington, DC) – This week, Congress approved – and the President signed into law – H.R. 244, the “Consolidated Appropriations Act,” which funds the government through September 2017 and invests an additional $25 billion in our nation's armed forces, including the largest pay raise for troops in six years. Also on the list of priorities advanced through the bill is $42.7 million in funding for the ongoing Savannah Harbor Expansion Project (SHEP), the largest increase in border security funding in a decade - $12.2 billion – and funding for the implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act, which shifts school control and accountability back to states and communities. WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives approved H.R. 1628, the “American Health Care Act (AHCA),” to repeal and replace Obamacare. The first of a three-phased approach to restore choice, competition, and affordability to the American health insurance market, the legislation repeals one-size-fits-all policy and replaces it with patient choice. It grants much-needed flexibility for states while authorizing stability-funding for high risk pools aimed at reducing health care premiums, and it provides states for the first time the opportunity to design and build a better indigent care program for the under-served.
