Today, the U.S. House of Representatives approved H.R. 3354, the “Make America Secure and Prosperous Appropriations Act,” to fund the federal government through FY2018. After considering more than 450 amendments to the bill, the House passed the legislation, finishing the annual government funding process before the end of the fiscal year for the first time this decade. Seventh District Representative Rob Woodall led the debate to consider the measure, and lauded its final passage.

Washington, D.C. – In recent months, a group of concerned citizens including the Lake Lanier Association reached out to U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall (GA 07) to request assistance in protecting residents, visitors, and property on Lake Lanier from the increase in thefts from its docks. Existing Army Corps of Engineer policy prohibited security cameras on the Lake’s docks, but following the partnership of local citizens with Rep. Woodall working directly with the Corps on the issue, that policy has been updated to allow these crucial protections.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved H.R. 2810, the “2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA),” a bipartisan bill injecting much-needed resources to America’s Armed Forces. It increases defense spending by 10% from previous levels and provides the largest pay raise for troops in eight years while allocating additional funding for missile defense research and development. The measure cleared the House Armed Services Committee by a vote of 60-1, and was approved by the entire House 344-81.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved a bipartisan bill (H.R. 2547) introduced by U.S. Representatives Rob Woodall (R-GA-07) and Julia Brownley (D-CA-26) by a vote of 409-0 that would build upon current law that the two originally authored. The Veterans Expanded Trucking Opportunities (VETOPPS) Act, signed into law as part of the FAST Act in December of 2015, removed regulatory barriers for military veterans continuing or beginning work in the trucking industry.

Washington, DC – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives approved S. 1094, the “Department of Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act,” which will now go to the President’s desk for signature. The legislation provides the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) with the authority to expeditiously remove, demote, or suspend any VA employee, including Senior Executive Service (SES) employees, based on performance or misconduct.
