Honoring Their Ultimate Sacrifice: Memorial Day

It was President James A. Garfield who said, “For love of country they accepted death,” and in that brief sentence we find a simple, solemn truth. It’s a truth for which we set aside a special day each year to pay tribute to the sacrifice of so many. Their sacrifice is a gift for which we are grateful, and on Memorial Day we pause to reflect on these ultimate defenders of freedom.

Government Funding Bills Receive Strong Bi-Partisan Support

On Monday, the House passed H.R. 4194, the Government Reports Elimination Act by unanimous voice vote. The bipartisan legislation was introduced by House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and co-sponsored by Rep. Rob Woodall, R-Ga., and Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va. The bill will eliminate 79 Executive agency reports to Congress that both House Committees and the Office of Management and Budget have deemed unnecessary or duplicative.
