Congressman Rob Woodall (R-GA) has signed on as an original co-sponsor to H.R. 1255, the “Government Shutdown Prevention Act.” This bill would provide that if the Senate fails to pass a measure before April 6, 2011, providing for appropriations for government agencies for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2011, H.R. 1—as passed by the House of Representatives on February 19, 2011—would become law while waiting for the Senate to act. H.R. 1255 would also provide that in the event of a government shutdown, the salaries of Members of Congress and the President will be withheld.
